Raphaël

It was in Paris, near Pont Neuf, that the production of the Raphaël brushes was started in 1793. The business was very successful even though the French revolution made the circumstances insecure. In 1859 the business was sold to Charles Sauer who moved the production to Oinwille, 50 kilometers from Paris. Since then, Raphaël has been kept within the Sauer family.

Raphaël’s philosophy is that Innovation, research and development is associated with tradition and knowledge. Brushes, water colours, acrylics and oil paint are still manufactured with the same idea.
