Cretacolor
Cretacolor is an Austrian brand specialising in pencils and artists’ materials for drawing, sketching and illustration. The range includes everything from classic graphite and coloured pencils to charcoal, pastel pencils and other drawing materials. The combination of extensive experience, high quality and a broad range has made Cretacolor a popular choice among artists, illustrators, students and anyone who enjoys drawing.
The brand’s history is rooted in Austria’s long tradition of pencil manufacturing. As early as 1790, Joseph Hardtmuth developed a new type of graphite pencil in Vienna with the ambition of creating high-quality writing and drawing instruments at an affordable price. This long tradition of pencil manufacturing has continued to evolve and lives on today through Cretacolor’s focus on materials for artistic creation.
Graphite is a central part of the Cretacolor range. Graphite pencils are available in a variety of grades, from harder pencils for precise lines and technical sketches to softer grades for smooth shading and dark areas. By combining harder and softer pencils, you can build up drawings with a wide range of tones, contrasts and details.
Cretacolor is also known for its charcoal pencils and other materials for sketching and drawing. Charcoal produces deep black tones and is particularly well suited to expressive sketches, shading and larger tonal areas. For those who prefer the control of a pencil, several traditional drawing materials are available in pencil form, making it easier to work with both fine details and precise lines.
At Pen Store, you’ll find a wide range of Cretacolor pencils and artists’ materials. Explore Cretacolor graphite pencils, coloured pencils, charcoal pencils, pastel pencils, drawing sets and other materials for sketching, drawing, illustration and creative work.
