Polychromos are professional oil-based coloured pencils with a high pigment concentration and excellent lightfastness. The acid-free pigments produce clear, intense colours that are water-resistant and smudge-proof.
The soft yet durable lead provides smooth, even colour application and can be sharpened to a fine point for precise details. The colours can be blended and built up in multiple layers to create smooth transitions, shading and intense areas of colour.
The pencils feature a 3.8 mm lead that is bonded along the entire length of the wooden barrel using Faber-Castell's SV bonding process. This makes the lead particularly resistant to breakage during use and sharpening. The wood comes from sustainable forestry and the pencils are finished with water-based lacquer.
All 20 colours are presented together in a metal tin.
Faber-Castell has been making pencils since 1761 and is one of the world's most established brands for artists' materials. Polychromos was introduced in 1908 and is today one of Faber-Castell's best-known ranges for professional artists.
